“Who hasn’t had the desire just to be someone else for a while? Dressing up is a way of creating an alter ego, a second skin which one’s behavior can be adjusted to and causes a person to be perceived differently. ‘Just the two of us’ deals with both costumes and the people behind them.”
The above quote comes from Klaus Pichler’s description of his fascinating series of photographs titled “Just the Two of Us”.
Each image shows a person (there is no way of identifying whether it is a male or a female) in full costume in an engaging environment. Some images are truly mysterious, some are slightly disturbing, and some are quite comical. Whatever the people inside the costumes are trying to portray, Klaus Pichler’s photographs present them in a beautifully crafted, fascinating portrait.
