I lived in London for several years and, other than Boston, it is my favorite city on the planet. William Eckersley’s series of color photographs capture parts of the city that are quickly fading into history.
William sent me the following information about his series.:
Shot over an intensive 12 month period, this is a photographic portrayal of abandoned buildings across the capital showing an otherwise unseen side of city life. Like all urban areas, London has an established cycle of decay and renewal. However, with the 2012 Olympics, it embarked on the most ambitious redevelopment plan in its history. Now that the bulldozers and builders have transformed many of these locations, we can only hope the improvements have been worth it.
